PRODUCT DETAILS

The famous "Orange Drop" film capacitor made by Sprague. A perfect upgrade capacitor offering sonic purity over standard ceramic caps. If a .047 capacitor is making your guitar sound too dark or muddy and the .022 is too bright when the tone control is rolled all of the way down then the .033 will get you a good inbetween tonal roll-off and strikes a good compromise between both values.

Voltage rating: 100v
Material: Polyester
Capacitance Tolerance: +/- 10%
Lead Pitch: 10mm

What’s the difference between .022uF, .047uF, .033uF, .001uF, .01uF and .1uF capacitors?

The capacitor value determines how much treble is rolled off when you turn your tone control down. Higher values remove more treble, giving a darker sound. As a general guide, .022uF is common for humbuckers and gives a warm roll-off without getting too dark. .033uF is a balanced middle ground between .022uF and .047uF. .047uF is standard for single coils and gives a smoother, darker tone. Smaller values like .01uF or .001uF only roll off a small amount of treble and are sometimes used for bright guitars or treble-bleed circuits. .1uF gives a deep, vintage-style tone when the tone knob is rolled back. There are no strict rules between values – it depends on your pickups, wiring, and personal preference. Many players experiment to find what works best for their setup.

What’s the difference between your ceramic, orange drop and Paper-in-Oil caps?

Ceramic capacitors are functional, affordable, and perfectly fine for most modern instruments - they get the job done. With orange drop capacitors they are stable, reliable and consistent across batches - just like the tolerances for pots, the same applies to capacitors. Orange Drop capacitors tend to have tighter tolerances, ensuring the value stamped on the cap is very close to the value that you are actually getting. Paper-in-Oil vintage capacitors use the same construction methods and materials as capacitors from the golden era of guitars. If you have a vintage original in need of restoration, or a high-end vintage-style custom shop reissue and want to remain faithful to the original design, sticking with paper-in-oil makes perfect sense.
